Kyb shocks

I'm replacing my original front shocks with kyb gas adjust on my 62. I have no motor or trans in the car now. The new kyb Shock comes with 2 rubber bushings and 2 big washers. When I send the shock up through the spring and get my bottom bolts in.than I go up under the hood to the upper a arm and only a few threads are showing .just enough to get the nut on but not enough to get a second bushing and washer on. Is this because there is no weight? Do I simply wait until the motor and trans are in?or do they get installed with just the nut on top with no bushing and washer

You can wait or invite over a bunch of fat friends to stand on the front cross member. Or just one if they are my size. A SBC tips the scales at about 430 pounds and a TH350 at about 140 pounds without the torque converter which can push 45 pounds full of fluid. So plan the beer and pizza accordingly.
