1965 dash fascia removal

Whats the easiest way to remove the front dash plate and glove box door..need to remove for pant.... ..The upper part is in really good condition no chips or scratches and all gages and light work so no need to remove the whole dash ....

Glove box door is easy to remove; just unscrew the three to four screws holding it on to the dash. The dash itself is a lot more involved so I suggest you take lots of photos as you bag and tag every part removed.

Ive pulled a few out of parts cars. They are not real easy.

So no easy way to just remove the metal part of the front dash right......

Actually a lot of the metal part of the dash can not be removed at all it is welded to the car. There are assemblies bolted into the dash that can be unbolted (screwed in actuality), but things like the controls for the heater have cables that are attached to the heater assembly which doesn't let go with taking half the car apart, the speedo cable can be unscrewed to allow you to remove the instrument cluster but it is wired in to the car and it is important to get it plugged back into the correct sockets when you take things apart, not to mention lowering the steering column and disconnecting the indicator needle in the dash from the linkage before you do.

Recommend buying a copy of the factory service manuals and even a Chilton's repair manual for your year car to have a fighting chance at getting everything back together again.

The instrument cluster comes out with the metal part. Then you separate it once out. You have to disconnect the wiring harness, and speedo cable and drop the steering column down. Much the same as Big Dave described. And do it carefully as much of the dash is not reproduced.
