Does anyone know if early 70 Impala's came with the "69" style hood (w/ Chevrolet lettering instead of the lip molding)? All the adverstisements I'd ever seen for the 1970 Impala's look like 70 Impala's for lack of better expression. I bought a 70 owner's manual on ebay. Some of the photos in the manual show the "69" style hood on what is cleary a car that has the 70 from bumper and grill. I wondered if these were early production models that got left over parts from 69. Anybody else ever see this in photos or real life? Thanks!

Hey Joe,
1969 was a "Strike" year at GM . I own a 70 Impala conv. Built in 9/69 (right after they settled) I'm pretty sure this car sat on the line as a 69, but then received 70 fenders and trim(bumpers, grill, etc) It's a 454 with hd. sway bars frt. and rear it also has rear defogger? Which to my understanding was "deleted" on 70 Imp. Under the hood is the "tincan" style vacuum "storage". All 70's have a plastic version. As for the hood...just the moulding.

Thanks for the tidbit Gary. I didn't know that there was a strike in 69. I think I'm going to have to check the manual and see when it was printed, excuse me, lithographed. Have to remember it was 69/70!
