I'll be replacing the carpet in my '64 Impala soon.

There's a jute?? mat that is glued to the floor. And I mean glued. Very sticky glue. You think this is the original undercarpet mat? I'll have to scrape it off either way. Want to make sure the floor is cleaned of any rust. Then paint with POR. Then sound/heat barrier. Any recommends on the barrier? Was thinking about that reflective foil stuff that sticks on. How'd you guys do it?

Thanks

Craig,
What you have laid out is a good plan. When I did mine I found that the foil/sound deadner lived up to it's "claims". Cut the heat and sound inside, from the headers quite a bit. I also found a roller for laminate and a wallpaper seam roller very helpful. Just apply enough pressure for adhesion so as not to rip it. I also found that some3M spray adhesive on the carpet (just a very light spray) kept the carpet in place under some peoples feet, ya' know the ones who can't sit down without panicking when "the light turns green". Oh, by the way... the jute could be original or replacement that stuff sticks pretty good unless a lot of rust got under it, have fun.

Goof Off works pretty good with a scraper.
