Is there a heat shield for a 350cu 325 hp crate gm motor ? - im told that
they are available only for small v8 motors. ( car will not start when hot -will
start every time when cold )also is the starter the problem ?

I have made them out of sheet metal, use a cardboard as a template, or get a starter blanket.

You need to have a good battery with proper amps. It can have 12 volts but not enough amps to start when hot. Have it tested. 2nd clean all connections on the battery and cables. If cables show corrosion then replace. Have starter tested at autozone for free while hot. Could be a bad starter

Yes there are commercially available heat sheilds for both the standard Delco-Remy starter, and the Hitachi style gear reduction starter. They are made of two sheets of formed aluminum with a thermal insulator sandwiched between the two sheets. They have tabs and mounting holes to bolt them to the starter and the block.

In addition if you have tube headers instead of cast iron manifolds it helps to have the tubes wrapped in asbestoes wrap.
