How can I tell the difference between front and rear springs on a 62 impala. They were marked before powder coating, markings are gone. When I put them back in, do they take a rubber spacer between the a-arm and frame/a-arm or is it metal to metal. Was thinking about air-ride, but after discussing it with many people, I was told alot of costly driveline mods are needed to prevent driveline damage. Anyone modified thier driveline for air-ride?

The front springs should be heavier than the rear. Most cars use a rubber spacer on the a arm

I agree with Txbobcat, you should feel the difference when you pick them up. And the front spring coils will be closer together than the rear.
