Hi All. I'm new to the site, and new to big-blocks. I have a 66 396, and I'm wondering about the dreaded groove in the cam journal. If I have a grooved bearing, do I still need to have a groove cut in the cam journal? If I have the groove in both places, am I going to have problems? Thanks.

You need either a grooved cam or a grooved bearing, not both. 99% use the grooved bearing with a '67 up cam.

Thanks Dave. I have the grooved bearing, and both types of cam. The one without the groove is a bit bigger. :-)
