Does anybody know where I can get the 'water deflectors' that go on the doors before the panels are installed. It's supposed to keep water from ruining the cardboard panels and getting into the interior, I guess. Can't find them in any of my catalogs.
Thanks

The term you're looking for is "vapor barrier". If you're looking for OEM, I'd try Hubbard's Impala Parts. They call them water shields...

Otherwise if you just need a vapor barrier and you're not replicating OEM, visqueen plastic is rugged enough to use. You can buy a ton of it for less than an a pair of OEM. Make yourself a stencil of the size and shape you need and trace it on the visqueen and cut it out. There are many ways of adhering it to the door shell that work, spray glue (but looks shoddy), 3M strip caulk (can dry out), or butyl (probably the best way). I think you can get butyl in different diameters and it comes on a roll. I would prefer butyl, and to use it you would stick the butyl to the door shell, inside the perimeter of the vapor barrier, and take your visqueen cutout, center it in place, and press firmly to bond the plastic to the butyl.
Hope these suggestions help!

Thanks Jeremy. That is good info. I also found some "water sheilds" in my H & H Classic Parts catalog just this morning for $13.00. Where can I get visqueen??
