Hi,

Impala lovers. I purchase the wiring harness kit from EZ wire (EZ 21 features 18 fuses and 21 circuits) and i am open to any and all advice. I'm also going to change the alternator to a one wire and would like to know which to buy and what ampage should i use? This in going in my 67 4dr hrd tp. Thanks in advance

If you have lots of power accessories like power locks and windows and/or a major wattage sound system I would get a 100 amp or bigger. Otherwise a regular one ( 60 or 80 amp, maybe less, can't remember) will do.

I would buy the highest Amperage alternator that fits in your case (they make a bigger framed, higher Amperage alternator for trucks, that was also used in Impala cop cars to support the radios and auxilary running lights), but I would stay with the same frame you have now, so there is no need to change the mounting brackets. Reason being, an alternator needs an exciter wire to power the field windings, so without a power draw of some kind it cost the same amount of horsepower to turn as any other alternator without regard to it's rated capacity. If you need more power it is available up to the rated maximum, but it only makes the amount of power that the car needs; unlike a generator with fixed magnets that makes the same amount all the time whether needed or not.

Thanks guys! I don't have a power anything and the only thing I may add in the future is an AC, so i feature a 60 to 80 amper will do. Right?

You'll be fine in that range, just try to buy a Brand Name quality unit perhaps with a Lifetime Guarantee.
