I have the ground wire from battery's negative post going to alternator bracket. I have long water pump and alternator is on the passenger side so it is this big metal plate where the wire is connected to (see picture (http://www.mielko.com/images/car/ground.jpg)).
Is that a correct grounding? I am asking because I will be adding an amplifier and usually the grounding should be battery-chassis and chassis-engine.
Thanks.

Battery cable goes to the motor as there is a large amperage draw DC motor attached to the block used to start the car up. The motor should have a network of four or five braided copper ground straps (they are not insulated just naked copper wire) connecting the engine electrically to the chassis in addition to a ten gauge ground wire from the battery to the chassis. If you need more power consider substituting 6 volt cables as they are a heavier gauge and will carry more current at twelve volts than the standard twelve volt cable will.

Alex, yes, that is fine.
Electrically, connecting to that alternator bracket is the same as being directly on the motor so you're fine. (obviously, make sure there's no paint in the way...)
Ditto what Dave said about the mesh grounding straps. You should have a few around for motor to firewall and each of those to frame or something similar.
I'm amazed, and it's awesome, that you keep putting so much into that wagon. That's cool, good on ya!

Thanks for replies guys.

I will have to look for the copper wires that connect engine to the chassis. How is the main ground wire (battery->) connected in your vehicles?

I really like the wagon. All my neighbors like it too (except my wife). I hope to have the false floor built by the weekend and maybe the whole stereo setup connected in two weeks. Hopefully, this time I will take my camera to take some pictures as the project turns out to be very interesting one.
