Console repair question.

Here is my console.
It was poorly repaired. I am wondering what I should use to repair this broken off piece.

1.) I was thinking of using epoxy and a syringe and some small sharp tools?
2.) What should I uses as a backing for reinforcement?
3.) What type of paint / dye should I use and any suggestions on where to get it?

Does anyone have any hints or tricks?

For paint I used a paint called Fusion (bought it at Walmart) for $3.00 and some change. Use some type of epoxy glue, then I would cut some tin to shape and glue in after the repair has set. Good luck
