Hey, I own a 66 impala 396 automatic car w/out air. The harrison radiator ( not a 4 core) looks original but doesnt have a shroud or the tabs to mount one. I've been told some did some didnt. This car only over heats while sitting in traffic, and leaves a nice puddle when u stop.
NOTE; radiatorhas been checked, system flushed including heater core, new thermostat and new waterpump put on.
Should this car have a shroud?

This is from memory so I may be off here; originally the BBC shipped with a three core radiator which was upgraded to a four core with air unless it was ordered with HD cooling. After 1969 all BBC cars had a four core radiator with or without air because the factory and learned that the three core had problems keeping it s cool. It should have shipped with a five blade without a shroud or a seven blade with shroud and a fluid coupled fan clutch as well with the four core.

Unless this is a restoration I recommend an aluminum two core (with 1-1/4" wide tubes) with a fan shroud, seven blade mechanical fan controlled by a new thermostatic fan clutch, and a 160° Stant style (Mr. Gasket) thermostat running antifreeze deionized water. You can keep up to 600 cubes cool with this set up.
