Howdy Y'all,
I am planning on buying a nice center console for my 67 Impala SS, but the ones that I am finding are not gold. Does anyone recommend a way to paint or dye the plastic to the desired color? All help would be greatly appreciated.
I see products all the time (VHT and others) claiming to have a rattle can solution to your problem though I personally have never tried it. I have also seen them spray plastic dye/paint on the TV horsepower series from PowerBlock that looked good on camera to go from blue to black.
You can get the paints/die from Classic Industries or even local parts suppliers. I ordered some for my 66 console. But it is to refresh the blue not a color change.
I know with my Camaro I went from tan to Black on some pieces and it worked great.
1.) Make sure that the part is very clean.
2.) I also think that there is a promoter for some types of die that you can get for it as well.
3.) Paint multiple light coats. it you go to heavy it will run.
yea do not rattle can it, after a little while it fades like crazy if not done perfectly and atleast in my opinion looks cheap
