Fuel sending unit - 1969 Impala - 3/8" w/return

I've recently lost my gas gauge and figured the ethanol, over the years has destroyed the sending unit. So I ordered one from rockauto and began the process of swapping them out. First thing I notice is that my 1969 Impala 350 4bbl has a fuel return line.

I can't find a single store that seels a fuel sender for that year with the correct part or any knowledge to why a 69 had a return other than vapor lock.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is a guy in Hemmings magazine that repairs sending units. You might want to check him out.

The 396 big block used a return line. I suggest looking for that part instead of for the 350.

Your born with motor made have gone stale, necessitating a change in beer, ... no motors at some time in the past.
