Fuel pump q

Ok, really dumb question. Small block v8, 283, mechanical fuel pump. Which is the inlet and which is the outlet? I can't find a picture to save my life! Thank you in advance!

The hose barb (tube with a bead rolled on the end) is the inlet and attaches to a short length of neoprene hose that is your gas line from the tank. You need to replace that hose with one that is alcohol compliant (usually a green or blue plastic lining inside the hose). The flare fitting is for the fuel line to the carburetor.

Also, I believe on the stock/cheap ones the line from the tank would be on the left as you stand in front of the car and look down at it. Reason being is that the fuel line comes up the passenger side of the car.

Ya know, it's a shame, I'm sure I had validating pictures in my blog/build-up that I tracked right here at Impalas.net so I clicked on the link in my Signature line and it seems most of my pictures are gone. WTH. :-( :-( (I can't tell you how ****ed I am about this lil issue!)

This is a 64 327. Like BA said inlet on the left (nothing hooked up in this pic) and the outlet on the right (connected to the hardline up to the fuel filter at the carb.
