Full Size Chevy Pan Hard Bar

Up underneath the 68 this afternoon and noticed a pan hard bar on the 10 bolt rear. My Impala is a Sport Coupe factory I6. Do all full size Chevy's come with factory pan hard bars?

Only those with parallel control arms. Starting in 1971 Chevy went to triangulated control arms that removed the need for another device to center the rear end.

Race cars with torque arms, or ladder bars or a four link rely upon a Panhard bar to center the rear end under the body. A more sophisticated system is to use a Watts linkage as the rear end stays centered rather than moving from one side of the car to the other as the suspension is flexed from full extension to full compression the way a Panhard bar does.
