Thank you ! I am thinking I might lower the front a little more. I just put s10 springs in the front thinking it would lower it some but it only came down 1/2"

That is a lot of work to perform for a best guess. Have the car weighed (preferably a four corner weight and contact Moog to wind custom front springs for you or check their on line catalog of service parts to find the factory original spring only at the ride height you want.


To find the spring you want compare the factory original to obtain the free height, installed height and the wire diameter as well as the spring rate. Then check for a spring with less installed height (your car's weight determines this, which is why they also list the free height). You can also find a thicker wire spring that will offer a stiffer ride at the same height if you are interested in performance more than ride quality.

Tell me more about the s10 springs! I'm looking fr a way to get an idea what the car is like on springs from the last decade before I worry about/play with dropping my wagon. A cheap set of junky yard springs would be a welcome stop gap.

Looks great.
Eaton springs are the best on the market but pricey. You can get them to perform like factory springs but with the 1" or 2" drop. I've had them in my 67 before going with air bags.

Eaton-Dana-Spicer Corp. was and still is an OEM vender to GM and made those suspension parts that Moog (part of Federal-Mogul Corp.) did not.

Eaton/Detroit Spring was not, and is a fairly new small cap company that buys and resells springs as well as other suspension parts.

Sorry for the delay, have been out of pocket for awhile. Perfect way to describe for me also. "stop gap". I had the springs laying around from a parted out 95 model extended cab s10. The front droped about a half inch but it is much stiffer now. I love the firm feel now but I still need to drop the front some more. I am thinking these springs and some 2 inch drop spindles will be the perfect combo. works out better that way anyway because of the brake kits available for drop spindles. I am looking brake kits right now.

They do not buy and resell springs, they make their own. They have been making them since 1937, I wouldn't call that a fairly new company.
Eaton is about the only company that makes drop springs for 67 impala. Also they are about the only company that you can call and give them make and model of the car, what kind of springs you want, ride height and they will make it, for almost any car.
I had them make leaf springs for 67 Lincoln Continental with 3" drop. No other place could or would do it. High quality product made in USA.

In my case,I do not want to perform like factory. I want the front to be much firmer than factory. How much firmer ? I am not sure. thats where the experimenting comes into play.

That is why I chose to rub Coil Over shocks on all of my cars. To change a spring it isn't any more difficult than unbolting a shock. The springs are cheaper and can be found for $25 each at flea markets at car shows:





You use the adjuster on the shock body to fine tune rider height and you can change the spring rate with a different spring that slips over the outside of the shock body.


Because the shock holds up the weight of the car you have to use a different A-arm and reinforce the top of the shock mount both front and back.

QA1 has a coil over kit that bolts in the stock location. no need to change anything.
