Installing ac; question about ac lines
Goo morning guys. I have a 66 Biscayne that came factory with heater only and Iím installing a Vintage Air Slim Line under dash system to it. I have the old heater box removed already so thatís out of the way and Iím planning how I will run the AC Lines from the evaporator to the compressor. Guys with heater only cars know that the heater only cars have a heater box cover on the engine bay that protrudes into the engine bay to provide room for the heater box.
My question is has anyone used the stock heater box cover on the engine bay side when installing my new AC system? I have the holes in my firewall already for the heater hoses. Has anyone successfully used this stock cover and drilled holes for the AC lines. I know vendors sell heater delete plates but if I donít have to spend another $90-$100 on the delete plate Iíll gladly not do it. Honestly if the top nut for this cover thatís above the blower motor wasnít dang near impossible to get to without removing the fender/inner wheel well Iíd probably be more inclined to simply get a delete plate. Even if that were the case the pate would still need to be drilled as I havenít seen any that was pre-drilled for AC or heater hoses. Anyone tackled this before and can shed light on what they did?
