06 impala door stuck shut

so i have an 06 impala, and yesterday the door wouldnt shut for a moment and after i tried to shut it a few times it finally shut with no problems. and now it wont open. its the rear drivers side door. i've tried to open it from the inside and the outside and it wont work, i cant figure out why. if i am able to take the door panel off i would be fine. but from what it looks like i dont think i can do that without the door being open, or is there a way to do that? does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
thanks - redbull
