She'd some light on me about insects

So for whatever reason my 64 is a magnet for bugs. If it's not ants, it's Nats. Wtf? Why is this happening. I mean they are blanketing the car towards the evening. Im not even selling this as something its not, theres hundreds of these ****ers. Thet dont do it to my other cars. Maybe cuz the red paint is so bright?

Sorry about the she'd thing. My damn phone autocorrected or predicted that and I didn't notice.

Insects for the most part see only light and dark focusing more on movement when it comes to visual cues. They also see into the ultraviolet spectrum and deep infra red if that helps (maybe they think it is a big flower in need of pollinating).

Insects are however attracted to smells. They live and breath pheromones to survive and thrive so you might try changing the predominant smell to something they don't like (maybe Raid, or Febreze).

Big Dave is wise beyond being mechanics, I see.

He is correct, insects, due to seeing primarily in the UV range, are drawn to select visual cues. Anything that contains a UV pattern can draw them in but colors such as yellow and white also pull them in. Some insects have red receptors as well.

I have experienced the attraction to yellow and gold cars, personally. And they love the smells in a paint booth! Maybe your gnats think your car is sweet red wine!

I figured OP was referring to insects being drawn to it while parked. But if we are talking in motion I suppose that depends where you live, etc. It may just be environmental factors. Humid climates, such as Florida I would imagine, would probably be hard to avoid bugs while on the road.
