Water Temp Sensor

Hello all. I have a question, I was chasing wires in my 66 Impala with a 327. Iím in the engine bay and noticed my water temp sensor is missing one of the wires. I located the wire (green with white stripe), and realized itís the one that feeds back to dash. My question is this. There is only one blade on the temp sensor. Do I put both wires in the same connector or does one wire (solid green) go on the blade connector and the other one (green with white stripe) some how connect to the little screw thatís in the sensor beside the blade connector.

Depends upon whether your idiot lights have a Cold with a blue lens that lights up when you turn the ignition on. If you don't (you have only the red lens saying Hot) then that is an extra wire that you do not need. It was included because it cost too much to make two separate wire harnesses for the car. The Cold light was an option to tell you not to rev the engine unril the oil got to operating temperature for extended engine life.

There are three different temperature sending units. Standard over temp (one wire) the deluxe Hot/Cold (two wire) and the one used with a gauge that sent a continuous signal (another one wire).

Thank you. I know for sure I have the red light that says hot but not sure I have the blue one. Is it one or the other? Either way the green one goes to the blade and the green with white stripe just goes back in the harness on the fire wall to be left alone.
