Setting kickdown upper rod on 327 with powerglide

I replaced my Rochester 4GC carb with an Edelbrock 1406 on my '64 and of course the upper kickdown rod needs to be made to work with the new carb. My understanding is that when I set the rod in place, the carb should be at full throttle and the bell crank arm should be fully forward. Can anyone confirm that this is the proper procedure?

Thank you.

I would just put a manual choke on it.

The kickdown is not for the choke, it is for the transmission. The Edelbrock 1406 is an electric choke version of the 1405, and also has leaner jetting/metering.

I'll check my 1965 service manual for you today.

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.
