Welcome to the Team Scott!

The tranny will bolt to the block no problem (all Chevrolet transmissions share the same bolt pattern on the bell housing). The 700R4 tranny is longer over all so the drive shaft will need to be shortened and the cooling lines have a different O-ring seal instead of an inverted flair compression fitting (but NAPA sells adapters). There are also differences in that all of the bolts on an '86 tranny are Metric (including the flexplate and converter bolts) as well as the fact you are adding a gear so your linkage has to modified or replaced (available mail order from repop houses). You will need to keep the converters together (the PowerSlide keeps it's converter and the 700R4 keeps it's lock up converter. That's about it. Cutting down the overall length of the drive shaft is the only real biggy.
