Forgot to add what I needed help with.
I am replacing the original 1970 gauge cluster with a Dakota Digital.
I have the original cluster completely loose except for the heat controls.
I am looking for the best way to disconnect the control from the cluster.
Thanks for any advise or help.
I've done this job on my 69, which is the same interior. You should be able to unbolt the AC control slider panel from the instrument cluster from behind and just leave it hanging in the car while you work on the instrument cluster.
Also, with the Dakota digital cluster, you really should drill a pass through hole in the steering column support directly behind where the ethernet cable comes out. Otherwise, it will be bent at a sharp right angle and cause a failure fairly quickly.
