2barrel vs 4 barrel

Hello Impalas.net I have a 62 impala 283 2 barrel Rochester carb 2 speed powerglide, my question is if I swap current carb n intake for a 4 barrel carb n intake will I get a noticable increase in horsepower, does it make a difference due to the fact that it's a 2 speed???

You wouldn't notice much if any difference. two barrel or four barrel is still trying to breathe through a 1956 designed PowerPack head.

Best upgrade would be a 200R4 overdrive transmission, followed by a rear gear change to a 3.36 which was the highest ratio offered by the factory. Aftermarket offered a 4.11 or a 4.56 back in the day but I think 4.11 is about as high as you can go (an OD tranny knocks that down to a 2.71for cruising). Added torque multiplication of taller gears sets in tranny and rear end will make a noticeable improvement in acceleration.
