65 Impala on alcohol

This monster was at Good Guys Joliet yesterday. Just nuts. I never saw it run but saw it at SEMA 2005 also. Man what a jaw dropper.

Usually running alcohol you run mechanical injectors with a belt driven fuel pump (or driven off the cam gear). Sounds like he is running regular carburetors (or a brace of regular Dominators), as fuel injection doesn't hunt like that at idle. Point is the hunting at idle is symptomatic of not running a carb that is designed to run with a blower. A blower carb is referenced off the intake manifold pressure and not the vacuum under the carb above the blower.

Nope that's all mechanical fuel injection through a screw charger, with a traditional surge tank and Holley fuel bowl/float hanging off the side. You can experiment with different "pills" to clean up the flood, stall, recover mode but what fun would that be? I think the owner likes to entertain everyone with that irratic idle, especially when the huge torque twists that thing every time it hunts.
