Setting up my buying guide
Ok, I'm currently setting up what stuff I need to get on the mechanical side and this is what I've come up with for the 66 SS.
Pulling the 10 bolt, 283 and powerglide out (this step is already done)
replacing it all with:
Moser 12 bolt with 3.73 gears w/ posi trac (possibly getting a used one and getting it rebuilt, haven't gone that far yet)
Sending off driveshaft to be redone to somewhere
700R4 overdrive transmission (looking into a possible swap to manual w/ a tremec)
rebuilt 400 SBC running in the 400 HP range hopefully.
So after I get all this crap in (saying this is a good set up) what's next on the mechanical side (sans replacing all the bushings, bearings, control arms, etc. etc.)? Is that all she wrote or am I missing something? I'm trying to research all this stuff before I just start getting random parts, and I've been trying to narrow my view down a bit and get into some more specifics. I just want to make sure I'm not missing an area to look at on the mechanical side of things before the money starts flying out the door and I end up with stuff that won't work at all.
If I remember correctly some of you all said that you go back to front so to speak on buying/installing, with the engine coming last and drivetrain coming first.
All feedback would be fantastic, tell me im a retard if that's not a good idea/set-up haha...
