66 console question

Should the bottom half of the console be painted, or does the carpet get cut and glued to it?

I haven't seen carpet glued to things in a vehicle since the mid seventies with the advent of bodacious muralled vans.

I don't really know but my guess is it is the same color paint as the dash.

Not sure what slides and boots are, the yellow part - paint or carpet? And if it's carpet, do you split the carpet on the floor around it?

Big Dave: Not sure about your reference about gluing carpet since the mid 70's, the car is from the mid 60's. Not to mention my 81 Vette has carpet glued to the back of the seat.

Sorry about that, darn auto-corrections: Sides are interior color, bottom section where you show the yellow is carpeted, thatís all the dried up glue showing
