1966 Impala SS Dash Bezel

Hi All,

My Dash Bezel has been painted in the past with your average silver paint and doesn't look good. As I'm looking around the internet it appears the sides and the tips of the separators should be "chrome", with black inside the separators and the remaining areas painted silver. Does anyone know if this is correct and were I can buy a repop or possibly someone to restore it - or instructions how to do it myself?

Thanks for your help

You can check these guys out:

https://kingoftrim.com/

You might be able to save a little money by having them refinish the chrome on the bezel and then filling in the black parts with a flow pen yourself. That's what I did with the chrome emblem on the front of my '68.

Thanks for the suggestion of Kingoftrim. They quoted me $950. Not in the budget. I heard that "Spaz Stix - mirror chrome" is great. I've ordered it and will post the outcome. I've found several pics on line and will the look as best as possible.

Chrome is the most expensive thing about restoring one of these old cars. Crazy expensive. The shape of the part often has a lot to do with it. I asked for a quote for the headlight bezels on my '68 and was told due to their depth they would be $500...each. Luckily I found a pair on eBay that were in great shape for $350. Seller was in Venezuela. Go figure.

Finished the Bezel, Home Garage restoration.

The bezel came out satisfactory to me, but we all know this is not actually a chrome finish. The Spaz Stix is the best "Spray on Chrome emulating paint" I have found.

Products used.
Insides Rustoleum Metallic Silver. (clear coated with Spaz Stix "Ultimate Clear Coat")

All the "Chrome" Edges and the right side was painted with the 3 layer Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome finish.

The 3 Dividers had a black stripe, which I used a 1/8" black pinstripe and clear coated over it.

ONE Caution - Use ONLY the "Spaz Stix Ultimate Clear Coat" to clear coat everything as I tried Rustoleum Crystal Clear and it dulled the finish. You can see the edge facing you if you look close the affect the Rustoleum clear coat had
