wow... awesome build!

and a serious coincidence. i have a 68 Custom that my dad gave me in 1984, when i turned 14. and my name is Wes. i'm in the decision mode, to start on the resto, or give up and sell. this thread gives me great motivation to get started, haha.

No major updates yet... Been locked down with some other projects I just wish I could work on this car all day everyday, but it dont work like that lol.

Hey Wes, I think it is a good idea to start your resto, you will regret sellin if you do...

Great work Wes! Hopefully the great work you are doing will get more people interested in these orphaned years. So these aftermarket companies to sit up and start reproducing more model specific 68-70 parts instead of waiting for someone to sell their once forgotten part's I have been through all body styles of this year and it's definately an adventure when parts catologues only go to 67'!

Thanks all. Still collecting parts and doing body work, nothing real exciting yet lol.

Hintol PM me with any questions I can help point you in the right direction.

John, I am partial to the 65-68 years, have always like them better than the 58-64 style. The market has come along way in the last 5 years for specific parts, and it keeps getting better.

Hey Shopking68,

Any new news on the Impala project? How are the mini-tubs going? We’d love to see some pictures of them done? Any idea of how wide of a rear tire you’re upgrading to? Keep up the good work.

Hey Hotchkis. We are in the process of transferring the body of my car down to my dads shop. He has more of the equipment needed to do some of the body we are needing to do. Good thing is he only lives 4 houses down from me

I did order a 305/25/20 tire, and I got it in, the profile was just too low I thought, so I shipped it back and went with a 295/35/20. Much better, not as wide, but still meaty lol.

I got 2 weeks off, and hope to get some things done on the car. Starting my basement project in my house, so I hope I can work it in

Hey Heart, I will get pics up this weekend. I am shooting for 2012 power tour hopefully...

HeartoftheCity,

Good luck on getting the car done! Tips on getting done in the final hours, do everything that "has" to be done. The little details that aren't necessary to safely drive the car can be done after the Tour. If you have to drive without carpet or exterior trim, just drive it and have fun. You'll have stories to tell about how you just didn't have time. Hot rodders will relate!

The Power Tour is a ton of fun! If you've never done it, I advise you to get up early every day of the tour and go to all the sponsored "stops" along the way. If it rains, just go with the flow.

If you're running Hotchkis parts, don't forget to sport a few of our decals on the tour!

Get in gear!

Thanks Hotchkis.

No updates as of now. This has been a tough year for my family. My mom has been battling Huntingtons Disease for the past 15 years. She past away 2 weeks ago at the age of 52. So the car has been put on hold for a bit. But I will be back at it soon...

If anyone has their head on straight will admit that what we do is a hobby and family will allways come first.

Alright. Back to work on the car!

Just a couple small things I am pretty sure I am not going to do the Air Ride. Its going to cost 5k to do what I wanted to do, so I have decided to put that money other places into the project.

I am going with 2" drop spindles from CPP.
http://www.classicperform.com/Store/...rs/CP30101.htm

Going with these springs also for the front.
http://www.globalwest.net/chevy-coil-springs.html

And new a new front brake setup from Wilwood. I am getting these new brakes because they work with the CPP drop spindles! Going with the 6 piston and 14" rotor
http://www.wilwood.com/BrakeKits/Bra...Drop%20Spindle

I already have some nice QA1 adjustable shocks for the front I bought I while back that I will end up using.

I have decided to sell my SSBC Force 10 brake kit. If anyone is interested let me know. The kit is brand new, I only bolted to my car, never used.
