If your plan is to sell it in the near future and not planning to drive it in harsh weather conditions, you should just leave it as is. The perspective buyer will not wonder what's up with the new pieces, and what's lying under them. Try a good cleaning and be done with it.
The Antique Auto Club of America (AACA) has a class called “Historical Preservation of Origional Features” (HPOF) restricted to vehicles that are at least 35 years old, and is strictly reserved for unrestored original, and your 65 may be a candidate. The amount of restored parts on a vehicle entered is limited. The original yet tattered seals may be a positive thing for the next owner.
