1966SS Rear Bumper

One of my ever-expanding projects on my car. About the only thing to complain about the exterior would be the back bumper. It has a slight "bow" in the center section, so it had been hit or otherwise damaged at one time, to where it sits slightly crooked. There is also a small dent on the right section. These would be my options:

1) send my bumper out to be straitened & re chromed.

2) Buy a 1965-66 bumper that has been already restored.

3) Buy a new aftermarket bumper.

Option # 3 is probably 1/2, or less, that the other two. Is there a repop bumper that is quality built, to where it will fit correctly & hold up? One manufacturer vs. the others? I also know that it is real easy to get a crappy re chroming job that doesn't hold up. I have asked around to a few people & nobody will recommend a chrome person in the Tampa areas. Opinions?????

Life sure was more simple (I think) before I had this car to dote over..................

Bend and dents can be fixed by a good rechrome guy. Aftermarket usually is a bit thinner and looks cheaper

I ended up buying a rear 66 bumper off EBay and am having them re chrome it for me. It's Superior Chrome out of Texas. I have read a lot of good things about them, and a few bad things. Hopefully I get the good experience. I thought it was a reasonable price and that way I don't have to be without a bumper on my car for 4-6 weeks. I can now either keep my original bumper how it is or send it out to be restored and have it for a spare. I was just too iffy on a repop, even though I could have saved about 40%. I should hopefully get it in about 4 weeks.

re chroming the Orig is your best bet or finding an NOS piece, or one that in great shape after 40+ years aftermarket is ok for a flip car but in the long Run they are made in China and dont last.
