Gas Tank Mounting Brackets Modification Question

I am working to restore a 1967 Impala convertible and today I was cutting out trunk cancer to install new trunk floor/pans. In addition to the trunk floor, I have new gas tank mounting brackets to install as well. I actually purchased these new floors and mounting brackets years ago and I'm just now working to install them. Well, before welding the mounting brackets to the bottom of the pan, I decided to check the fit. Lucky for me I did! As it turns out, the brackets will not work with my stock gas tank. So I came in and was going to wright Hubbard an email asking if I could exchange the mounting brackets for the correct ones and I see that they are still selling the same ones that I bought and they still are claiming that they fit '65 to '69 Impalas. So I started looking around and as it turns out EVERYONE is selling the exact same mounting brackets for the Impalas. Well, I just happen to click on the "installation tips" in the Hubbard web site and it says in there: "THIS IS A DIRECT REPLACE FOR 1965-66. 67-70 MODELS REQUIRE MODIFYING FOR TANK STRAPS MOUNTING." So no problem, I'll just modify them to fit. The only question is how? Has anyone out there gone through the same experience? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to modify these mounting brackets to make them work? The part number is 6570GTMB.

Here is the link to Hubbard's web site: https://www.impalaparts.com/6570GTMB/

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Bob

Probably longer bolts on the back side.

I didn't see that disclaimer when I bought mine several years ago and ended up reusing the original tank straps.

Probably easier to use these and drill a hole in the correct location:
