The Plan

I should probably state somewhere along the way here that my original intention in buying this car was to have a BUDGET CONVERTIBLE.

Yeah, it was a whim to own a Vert, but I've learned through my Camaro that if you do not have a budget and a plan, you can too easily let your desires run rampant.

With that in mind, I set a loose goal of a TOTAL investment of around $6500 to have this car as a cruiser. Not a show-car at all, just a rat-rod'ish old convertible that was presentable, not embarassing.

Loosely, it was worked out on paper like this before purchase and only a little parts shopping.
$2700 - Car purchase and transportation costs
$400 - Brake rebuild
$200 - Exhaust work
$200 - Quarter-panel patch
$100 - Oil and new fluids
$100 - Black Epoxy Primer
$100 - Sandpaper/discs/etc
$125 - Rubber parts. Door/trunk lid
$100 - Carpet
$500 - new convertible top
$1000 - tires and wheels
$5525 - loose total

The thinking was - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
So, it seemed to me that I could make this work and now, I are, trying to make it work!

As you've no doubt noticed, I wasn't thinking straight when I came up with my numbers for exhaust and quarter panel patches.
There's also been a bit of a surprise here and there. Like the mouse/rat poo all over the ripped front seat. The drivers side seat is as bad as the Pass. seat, it's just covered up.
There is/was a stench of urine too. The whole front seat needed new foam and covers. $$
