|tate3t||I finally got time to get the car home. It will need both rear quarters and both front fenders. The truck floor will have a few pin holes in it also. It even has the owners manual and the warranty book with protecto plate in it. Everything is complete. Floors are solid. I guess it's time to get it sold. Pm if your interested in it. I went back and looked at it again and it appears to need both rear quarters and both front fenders. The floors and trunk floor looks to be solid. One good thing about it is that everything is all there still. It was last tagged in 1982. It's been there a while!|

You could have ordered a 409 with a Powerglide in 65. The lower horse 409 L33 was available with a powerglide, the higher horse L31 was not.

The 348 and 409 Mark I BBC (aka "W" motor) made more torque than the PG could handle so they all came with a four or three speed manual.
The 427 was introduced in 1966 so it couldn't have one of those installed. Since GM banned A/C with any engine equipped with a solid cam (because high RPM destroys the compressor) that leaves the 325 horse 396 which was rated at 340 horse in 1965 (because all of the BBC engines where tested at peak power in 1965, rather than off idle to lower the numbers to keep the insurance companies happy that occured from 1966 and up).
Also with the introduction of the Mark IV BBC (Mark II was the 427 mystery motor, and the Mark III was still born due to the cost of changing all of the tooling) came the introduction of a new three speed automatic introduced in 1965 the TH400. It was designed to handle the torque of a BBC.

It sounds like it has all the go fast goods, but need one final check on the motor. I believe this would have the 396 in it and it had a 325 HP option or a 425 HP solid lifter option. 65 could have a 340 HP 409 in it, bu looking at your pictures the valve covers are not W motor valve covers and with an August build date the 409 was no longer an option. That car most likely has the 325 HP 396 option since it has an Automatic. Not sure about 1965, but in 1964 and earlier the High Horsepower engines only came with manual transmissions. If it does happen to have the 425 HP engine in it then when restored it could be worth a lot if done right, but you will still most likely have more into the car than you will get out of the car.
Not even going to throw out a price as I'm an X frame W motor impala guy and I would probably significantly under value it as it doesn't mean as much to me.

|62BillT||Cool car and looks restore-able, but check the underside good. Being low to the ground like that could mean rust problems. Especially if it's been parked there like that for years.|

Help please with trim tag and price
Looking at a 65 Impala SS. It's complete with big block auto trans with console and a 12 bolt rear end. Hasn't ran in 35 years. Here is the tag info. It's a A/C car also. Is it something special or just a average car? I have several Picts but can't get them to post on here.
