67ImpalaSSConv That would not surprise me at all of it had water. My dad has rebuilt a couple but not this specific one. He said he could try. The kits are cheap. But I’m not sure if you can fix an old rusty wet gear box with a seal kit.

Big Dave Gear box had water in it. Probably going to need a rebuilt gear box at this point.

Power steering not working.

I just installed a new pump and hoses and flushed the gear box as best I could. But there is no telling how long it sat without being used with the holes pretty much open except for some tape wads loosely shoved in the holes.

The pump seems to be pumping but the new fluid is turning a white pinkish color like maybe it has rust in it from the gearbox. There is basically no assist. It also get stuck sometimes when turning like something is binding up in the gearbox.

The only other thing I can think of is to rebuild the gear box. But I don’t know a lot about power steering systems so maybe there is something else to check first?

Also should I rebuild it or just buy a rebuilt unit?

Thanks!
