I think I'll go ahead and get the aforementioned solenoid and bracket and loose one of the sreturn springs; see how it goes.

Timing was an issue and the carb is tuned in nicely.

The bulk head connector is a common problem with 64's; I clean mine once a year but one of the pins seems loose.

The indicators work as do the tail lights (when headlamps are on), just no brake light.

I think it's a combination of the timing being off slightly and the carburetor not being tuned right.

I'm sure the firing order is correct; it's not back-firing, just not running...
