I have a 1962 dr ht that I am restoring. Wanting to put 15x8 aftermarket rallys on the rear with a 5" back space. Does anyone know if they will fit with a 275/60/15 and no rubbing problems?...Jim
My dad has that size of tire on 15x8 Rally's on his 64 SS, but 5" BS is not a standard size for a rally. It's best to measure, but I think you'll need to go with 4" BS.
Stock Chevy wheels have for the most part (unless required by a body constraint) neutral back spacing (50/50) so that the hub is centered in the wheel. That way it fits the most cars (something the General is famous for) and it doesn't put an adverse load on the bearings as happens when you go to a deep dish wheel or all the BS you can find so the hub is on the outside rim.
