Hello, I'm new to the forum. Ihave a 63 Bel-Air with a 230 straight 6 and I want to swap a 292. Has anyone here done this swap? If so what changes did you have to make to make it happen. Thanks, Glynn

Motor mounts are different, and in a different location on the block with the tall deck 292 truck block. Distributor and oil filter location differs as well though that isn't as serious an issue, it can cause issues with headers if being used as they are designed to fit the car block.

Obviously you will get more bang for the buck with a SBC engine swap. You can install a 400 cube SBC in your car and still have it "look" like a 283, or 327 of the era. No substitute for cubes, and a SBC 400 will out perform even the legendary 409 at a fraction of the price.

Also, there is a chance that your Hood would no longer close.

If you want to stay with a straight six, I would just bump up to a 250.
