Wanted to share this simple improvement to the '65 Console lighting that I came across with the help of an experienced clock repairman. Afetr failing to get my original clock to run accurately or reliably I purchased the modern version from classic industries. The problem with the new clock though was that the backlighting was terrible, I couldn't read the clock face at night. My idea was to swap the clock face from the original clock to the new clock but the repairman was able to solve the issue by applying silver paint to the back face of the new clock allowing the light to reflect around the backside and onto the front. I then added an additional lamp to light the SS emble as a small custom touch.
Hope you find this helpful

Nice job! The 65 dash really looks pretty when lit up. Does the factory radio in yours still work? Here's a shot of mine that I just went through a few months ago.

It looks great. Nice job! I love the ‘65 IP.
My radio does work, AM only but I’m ok with it. I added a Bluetooth module that sounds great thru the Retro Sound speakers.
I’m curious if the center horn button on yours is new. I bought a new one but I wasn’t happy with the execution. I used it but am looking for a better piece.
Thanks

Thanks, Jim! It's the original horn button. I lucked out and it's in decent shape, although it does look better in the photos. There's some stress cracks on the sides but I don't really mind. This car's going to be a driver anyways. I know someone who has a '65 parts car, so I can see if the button on it is any good if you want.

Best,
Sam

Thanks Sam. Mine also had the stress cracks around the outside. If you friend's center cap is in really good shape I would be interested. Its just hard to match the craftsmanship from back in the day and still have a reasonable cost.
Stay well,
Jim
