If you want one add it, it's your car and you are the only one you have to please.

If you think this car is a piggy bank and not a car then be sure to save any parts you remove as someone else might think it is a valuable museum piece as well and will want an opportunity to restore it back to original.

The vast majority look at these old cars as a piece of their long lost youth and restify them which is to say pretty them up with new paint and shinny chrome but they also bring these cars into the 21 century with gas shocks disc brakes and radial tires to control a newer high performance engine that easily outputs more than twice the designed power of the original power plant. New OD transmissions and powered lumbar support seats with high backed head rests make them a joy to drive.

But they are no longer original. They are expensive toys to be played with and shared with others.

The tilt was not offered as an option until '63, and they will not readily adapt to your '61.
If you want to add a tilt, you will need to procure one from one of the aftermarket suppliers. Save your original column, that will provide the means of returning to stock if prefered at a later date.
