I am missing the vacuum line that attaches to vacuum modulator valve in the back to the transmission. I just ordered a new one but I'm not clear where this attaches under the hood. Any information would be helpful.

Does the 64 use vacuum or does it use the mechanical kick down linkage like the 63 impala? If I remember correctly even my 66 impala I had as a kid in high school used mechanical linkage for kick down.

It should only be using a kick down linkage. I don't recall a vacuum line to the transmission on my 64.
That is what I thought, now if they actually have a TH-350 or TH-400 that they have the 2 speed shifter hooked to then they would need a vacuum line as the transmission will not shift into 1st gear until you go to a compete stop and the mechanical linkage will not work on either of those transmission. You would still be able to manually shift between 2nd and 3rd gear.

powerglide vaccum modulator

Pretty sure the 64 unit has a vacuum modulator...it is needed for the upshift and downshift in normal driving. The kickdown linkage is used to manually downshift for passing and is adjustable and works with the throttle linkage when you floor the gas pedal.

All vacuum modulators connect to intake manifold vacuum...there is typically a fitting in the intake manifold for the connection. Most have a short rubber hose at each end of a steel tube which is bent to fit the application...some vehicles will have a manifold fitting that has two connections, one for the modulator another for the power brakes if equipped.

You are right, I think. I rummaged around in my photos some more (more reliable than my memory ;D ) and found this one of my 350 based 383 with a TH350. The vacuum line T fitting near the vacuum advance canister, shows a beat up hard line that went down to the transmission. It has been a long time since I had the power glide in mine.

Thank you for the replies. It does have both the vacuum modulator and the kick down linkage for reasons discussed by WILMASBOYL78. I can see the fitting that would be a T if I had power breaks (which I don't). But I do have A/C. I thought that fitting connected to my A/C vacuum in the firewall. Ill do some more checking but some pics that I've looked of the stock 327 make it look like it connects to the distributor/Carburetor.
