Hi. My first post here.

Just bought a 2dr 65 impala non ss. Need a small amount of work and a new paint job.

Have figured it that orginal paint is R "Regal Red" and im thinking of paint it Crocus Yellow. Has black interior

So. Does the Crocus Yellow use clear coat or not?

Thanks

They were all lacquer back then, whatever paint you get today will either be enamel, or base coat/clear coat. You can put clear coat over enamel, but is not necessary.

I'm a fan of the Crocus yellow. You can get that tint no matter which way you budget lets you go. A one-coat enamel might be cheaper in the short run if a shop is doing the painting, and the base-coat/clear coat would arguably give you a longer (years) lasting protection against the elements and color fade. When paying a shop though, that's extra time and material costs.

Didnt think of the old paint being lacquer. Make sense.

The crocus yellow is nice.. Now i start too second guess my self.. The tuxedo black is sick too...

Dont know yet if i do my self or let a shop paint it.. Paint job in sweden is expensive.. maybe 6-8000 dollars..
