We did as much as we could yesterday. I realized at the last minute that I needed bushings and ball joints for the front lower arms and Summit assured me they would be here without the cost of overnight freight. Well, UPS held the package for over 12 hours before moving it out of OH and the parts weren't here Friday. I'll finish the chassis build up Tuesday.

I did finish the chassis to roller status and moved it to storage.

Yesterday, I sand blasted the inner rockers and floor support for repair.

I used 50# of black diamond, then sweep it up and screen it back into the blaster. I did that 5 times and still have most of it left. That equates to a cost of $10 for media that I can still use more times...:hurray: I was quoted $5-600 for a mobile blaster to come here...:noway:

That's as much as I want blasted for now. Once the repairs are complete, I'll blast the whole underside and paint it.

Yup, I did the same thing with the soda blasting of my Nova, and the s-i-l did it when they were blasting the parts for the caprice. It defiantly brings the cost per pound down.

Been a while since I updated this. I started the repair of the right inner cowl/kick panel/inner rocker rust.

First, I had to scrape off the underlayment I put in a few years ago.

Then I did some plasma surgery.

Drilled spot welds and used a air chisel to remove the reinforcement plate.

I made a cut above the rust on the inner cowl and removed the remnants.

Not enough left of the old panel for a pattern, so I made a cardboard one, transferred it to a sheet and cut it out with the plasma.

Parts I picked up at Auto City Classics.

Patch made and ready to install.

The reinforcement plates arrived just in time.

With a little tweaking, this fit nearly perfect.

I gave it the measles and then punched all those holes for plug welding.

All done but the sealer and paint. Oh, wait, there are a couple more parts to go on...

Floor patch cut out of the pan and now part of the car.

There has been progress, just not as quickly. I have a friend helping and learning about cars and restoration. He is only here on Tuesdays and Friday afternoons. I have been letting him do much of the cutting, fitting, welding and grinding of the inner rocker pieces for practice.
