I am looking for bucket seats for my 67 impala and found a set and the guy is sure they are either 66 or 68 impala buckets.

mas long as they fit and I can use 67 style covers I am fine with another year. I know 65 will not look right and probably won’t fit as they look completely different. I had found a set of 65 buckets already.

Any ideas?

If those pleats are actual stitching, they're likely not original. GM did heat stamping of "stitching" back then. I don't think the black carpet is original, either. I would suggest looking at "the old car manual project" and browse the mid to late 60s GM brochures. I'm getting an Oldsmobile vibe...

I agree, they are nothing Chevrolet that I'm recognizing.

Certainly not 66 because they have side button for the seat back release.

Are the seat backs metal or plastic? 67 are metal, 68 are plastic.

He sent me a pic of the backs. They are plastic. So must be 68. He’s sure they are impala and says they were recovered. I think I can buy replacement metal backs for it to make it a 67 seat. Plus the plastic never ages well on these so it needs replaced anyway.
