Hi All. I just purchased a 1967 Impala 2-door coupe, Bolero Red with red interior and A/C, and I have a question regarding my VIN and my trim tag. My VIN is 163877L115904. This indicates a 2-door Impala coupe with an L6 engine.
My Trim Tag is as follows:

ST 67-16487 LOS 5376 BODY
TR 871-A R-R
W 2EM

So I decipher this to read that my car was built in the 2nd week of November, 1966, it's a '67 model year, built in Los Angeles, with Bolero Red exterior and top, and Red interior with Bench Seat, and Accessory Group 1 W= tinted windshield, Accessory Group 2 E= Air Conditioning, M=Powerglide transmission, and Accessory Group 5 Y= custom front and rear seat belts with front retractors.
However, my trim tag reads 67-16487, which indicates a V-8 instead, which had me nervous at first, until I read on the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and Cowl Tag Decoding ? Impalas.org page the following:
"Here is a chart showing all the body style numbers for each of the years. The majority of the assembly plants showed an 8 cyl. body style on the cowl tag, regardless of the engine size. However, some plants showed a 6 cyl. designation if the car was to have such an engine. When trying to figure out if your car had an L6 or V8, always go by the VIN number."
"The body style on the cowl tag is typically in a V8 format, even if the car came with an L6 engine. Some plants however, did stamp a L6 body style on the cowl tag if it was to be assembled with that engine. In most cases, the assembly plant code is followed by either the sequential body number or the order confirmation number found on factory paperwork like the window sticker."
Ok, so that being said, I can accept that my trim tag identifies my car as a V-8 car, but my VIN says it was an L6 car which is what I believe it to be (it currently has a clapped out SBC mystery motor in it). However, are there any other numbers from the VIN that should also appear on my trim tag?
