Hi... Was the alternator ONLY on the drivers side on a 66 BB? I have a 454 with the alternator on the Right side and want to install AC on the car.
Will the water pump be a "long leg" on the right side and a "short leg" if the alternator is on the drivers side?
That will mean having to change pulley s too?
Anyone have the conversion parts numbers to change the alternator from the passengers side to drivers side?

Chevy went to the long pump in 1969 to reduce warranty claims on thrown V-belts (got rid of V-belts in 1986). To change over to the short pump you need in addition to a short water pump you will need all new mounting brackets and new pulleys .as the long pump pulleys put the center of the V a half belt width off from the center of the short pump pulleys. That is a lot of expense and effort to move the alternator when their was a matching A6 piston compressor used in 1969-'73.
