I don't know if I am having bad luck or what but there are several interior parts I am finding the part for every year and model except mine.

For example, I can't seem to find a new center console for the 65 SS. Does anyone know if they are available and where to find them? If not where are people getting them refinished?

Another thing is I can't seem to find the chrome lower dash trim facia trim plates for a 65 SS (with AC). These two things I can find everyone BUT for the 65 SS.

GM has a bad habit of letting the bean counters run wild after a car has been introduced. Usually this makes the introductory year an orphan as the parts are changed to cut costs in materials, or in the labor to produce the car.

It happened with the 1967 Camaro, and the 1968 Nova and to a large extend the 1965 Impala (they even changed the dies so that many sheet metal body parts do not interchange). When these cars were new it wasn't an issue, because federal law required that GM maintain parts for at least seven years after a car was sold. After that junk yards still had good used parts.

But when it comes to the reproduction part it is a matter of supply and demand. B-bodies are not in demand in general; and the 1965 has less demand than the 1966-'67 production years thanks to a certain TV show that I have never even seen, and few Punisher movies.

Try eBay. Center consoles can be unobtainium, but your best bet is finding a used one on there.

Yeah, I see used ones on there from time to time. How would you go about getting a used one refurbished, I wouldn't even know where to begin?
I gave up on a center console for my 68 awhile back. I've seen a grand total of 2 for sale on eBay, and they were for autos and extremely expensive. I'm converting to a T56, so the wider shift pattern wouldn't work even if I found a manual console.

As far as refurbishment, Google it. There has to be someone out there that can do it, and it won't be cheap.

ETA: check this out on eBay. Very nice 4-speed console.

I just went at lunch to a salvage and saw a 65 SS, but no center console unfortunately. It did have the bucket seats and shifter. If you want any other info let me know, I can check next time I am by there.
