I did look through most of the posts here and can't seem to find a complete picture of what I'd like to do. So I figured I'd ask here. Oh, before I get started, I have the original staggered 14" steel wheels and correct covers if anyone needs them. So, I'm looking to stay 15" but would like a fat-* tire in the rear. Everyone seems to be running the 275/60r15's on 15x8 or 15x10 wheels but no mention of backspacing. I found some 15x10 with 4.25BS, not sure if they will clear or can I make them work with a spacer? I'm clueless on these. Also want to go 15x7 or 15x8 in front maybe a 235 or 255?? Heck, if anyone has a bad* setup, show me a photo and your specs! I'll credit you in the citation section of my build book, lol. Thank you all for having me, let me know what you think.

15x10 with 4.25" backspacing will not fit, no spacer will help that either. You need 5.5" backspacing on 10" wide wheel. For 8" wide wheel 4.5" is ideal, but you could get away with 4".

I don't think my '66 numbers would be helpful but here they are:

V45, 17x8, 4.75 BS, 5x4.75 BP, 7/16 Lugs,
V45 17x9.5 Vintage, V45, 17x9.5, 5.75 BS 5x4.75 BP, 7/16 Lugs,

I had to use a 1" spacer on those rears to pull them off the frame where it was touching.

If you are up for it, the Percy's Wheel-Rite tool may help you with overall dimensions that fit in your wheelwell.

Hi ..I'm trying to put 8" Vette Rally wheels on my 66 Biscayne. I have a pair of 255/60-15 I tried to put on the front but they hit the bottom of the wheel well front. I was told to go with a 225/70-15 but I want some more input first.
Did you play with the alignment putting more caster in to move your wheel back?

Hell if I know. Car had some minor surface rust on top when I bought it, my buddy had some paint left by a customer that changed his mind on a color, so we shot it with that paint. I may still have a note with the color formula, I have to look for it.

It's going back to Marina Blue soon.

Nope, didn't touch the alignment.
