As with most first production years of a new series run (1958, 1965, 1971, and 1977) the first year was often an orphan as the bean counters descended upon the car to reduce cost and the engineers worked to solve customer complaints. As such though similar to the 1978-86 production runs share many similar parts but not exactly the same part (usually in the trim as hand polished stainless steel parts were replaced with cheaper anodized aluminum, but it could be very noticeable such as happened with the 1968 Nova that had the dash redesigned from the other 1969-'74 Nova cars).
If you have nothing they will interchange but may not be concours correct.
